Erin & I flew out to her cousin Joe's Wedding in San Diego.
See some photo's from John's last solo drive. A bunch of us got together to celebrate Johns pending nuptials.
As some of you already know, I bought myself an old BMW 633CSI (BMW designation E24). Here are some pics I took with the old 633CSI next to the new 645Ci (BMW designation E63). I've been asked to compare the two cars by a few people, so here's my attemnt. First, the sticker on a new 6 Series is around $78,000 with some packages. I paid around $2,000 for the 1983. You can find all of the technical data on both cars by searching the internet; 0-60 times, horse & torque figures, quarter mile times, size . . . I find myself comparing the two cars as if I were driving the new 6 22 years from now. Would the iDrive still work? Would the style be classic or clumbsy? Would it still keep pace with other cars on the road? In my opinion the E24 is a classic and will always look great. The E63 was launched with mixed stylistic reviews.
These cars both drive like they are BMW's. The turning radius is impressive for both of the cars as you drive them. Acceleration and cornering are both better on the E63, but they should be. The car is 22 years younger than the E24.
As I write this I find myself having troubles really comparing the two cars. They are each unique and have different apeals. I guess 22 years from now, I think I would pick a 44 year old E24 over the 22 year old E63.
I recently organized a Ride & Drive for work. It was a great success. see some pictures.
